Dear all,

The below text is taken from a leaflet which will soon be delivered to local homes by the firm that is in charge of the rebuilding process. We'd urge everyone connected with the school and the local community to look at this and engage with the process. Understandably, we're really excited as a school about this and we're keen to work with the local community as much as possible. To that end, please feel free to share this news post.

Many thanks,

Michael Wright

Headteacher

Our plans for a new state-of-the-art school have Government approval in principle, but we would like to get your views before submitting our planning application for the development.

The development aims to provide a high quality learning environment to support Framwellgate School in providing a welcoming, safe and secure environment for both pupils and the whole community.

The project involves the demolition of most of the site’s existing buildings (excluding the Sports Hall) and the construction of a new school, to replace the current teaching buildings. The redevelopment will be phased, in order to retain education services on site for the duration of the build.

In order to facilitate the re-development, a full planning application for the demolition of the existing buildings and redevelopment of the School will be required to be submitted to the Council.

The new, purpose-built school will include specialist teaching spaces for ICT, technology and science along with other core curriculum subjects.

A wide range of sustainability and biodiversity enhancement measures are also incorporated into the scheme.

It is anticipated that construction will begin in late 2025, with the new building completed by summer 2027.

We would like to invite you to attend a public exhibition showcasing the new school proposals, held at The Sjovoll Centre on 26 March 2025 between 3.30pm and 7.00pm.

More details on the proposals and a questionnaire are available online at: www.plansforframschool.co.uk

The website will be live until 07 April 2025. We would welcome your feedback and comments.
